General Update: Coventry's first exhibitions..

Although not finished Chris has been asked to to appear at a number of events with Coventry to show off his progress with the layout

The layout at Shrewsbury with its hastily concocted lighting rig and obvious blank bits. This view also highlights the need for a black cloth ‘skirt’ around the front to hide the legs. The open fiddle yards are deliberate in order to display the rolling stock which during the day proved to be a big talking point.

I’m pleased to report that the Wonder is now firmly secured to the layout and the working lamps are wired up (well, almost). This was just about in time for the Shrewsbury Festival of Model Railways on 7th June. Whilst the incomplete and not yet running layout was well received by most, a few visitors didn’t understand why I should bother showing something that didn’t work. Missing the point (and failing to read the explanatory information in the show programme) perhaps, but at the same time reminding me that I really must get it working, then finish the rest of the scenery

The following photographs show the current state of play, much to be done but progress has been and is being made.

The Wonder in situ but minus the leaders which still need to be fitted and the reins sorted out.

A short section of line side fencing has since been made and fitted. The section above the embankment is underway, all 1.2 metres of it!

A few left over building materials in the yard behind the end wall of the station.
